Inequalities: Always, Sometimes or Never? math talks are a great way to challenge students to think deeply about an inequality & build their algebraic thinking skills.

With each task, students consider the given inequality statement to determine if it will ALWAYS be true, SOMETIMES be true or NEVER be true.

They must test different values to explain and justify their thinking.

The goal of each task is to encourage students to think about ALL possible values of x rather than simply giving an answer without much thought.

Using the Inequality Math Talks:

This resource includes 20 different inequalities to consider, allowing you to choose ones that are appropriate for your grade level.

These are available in half-page printable format, along with a digital option available as google slides.

These make an excellent math warm-up or number talk during your inequality unit, or later in the year as a review.

You can also use them as exit tickets to assess student thinking & understanding or even early finisher challenges.
