Decimal Division Word Problems – DIGITAL – Grades 6-7 – Self-Checking

Do your students struggle to make sense of word problems and working with decimals? This fun, interactive set of decimal division problems will provide a meaningful real world context and give students instant feedback.

Help your students in 6th grade or 7th grade practice division with decimals using this self-checking set for google slides.

How Part One of the Activity Works:

This is a digital activity created for google slides that you can assign in google classroom.

To begin, students must view the slides in presentation mode, by clicking ‘view’ -> ‘slideshow.’

Once they are viewing the slideshow, they will be presented with one problem at a time, along with multiple answer choices. After they solve the problem, they click their answer on the slide.

If they are correct, they will move on to the next problem. If they are incorrect, they will go to the ‘oops’ slide, where they must click to go back and try the problem again.

There are 12 decimal division word problems altogether and once students successfully solve them all, they move onto part two of the activity.

Part Two of the Activity:

After students successfully solve the decimal division word problems, there are 8 “create your own” problems.

To complete this, students must exit presentation mode so they can then type their answers onto the slides.

For this part, students are given a part of the situation. They must choose another decimal number and create their own situation that requires division of decimals.

They type their word problem onto the slide, then they solve their problem and type their answer onto the slide as well.

This will challenge students to think more deeply about what division represents, when it is needed and when it is not.
