Thinking Deeply: Incorporating Writing in Math Class

Are you ready to push your kids beyond number talks and help them deepen and solidify their math thinking? Research shows that writing out notes improves learning and conceptual understanding. So if our goal is for students to understand math deeply, retain what they learn, and communicate their ideas effectively with others, we must include some form of written responses. But what does this look like in math class?

Through jam-packed yet bite-sized teaching videos, you will learn research based strategies and expand your understanding of what writing might look like during your math block. (Hint: it doesn’t look the same as ELA!)

In addition, this course comes with a variety of printable writing prompts and purposeful writing challenges, allowing you to implement what you learn in the course right away.

You will also receive a certificate of completion for 2 hours of continuing education credit.
