Looking for a new way to explore shapes with your students? This fun set helps kids learn about shapes while composing them from other shapes using pattern blocks. They then count and tally how many blocks they used!

Make math hands on with these simple prompts and a tub of pattern blocks. Discuss the shapes & their properties with your students and then challenge them to find more ways to build each shape.

This download will help kids explore the following shapes:

• Triangle
• Square
• Rectangle
• Hexagon
• Trapezoid
• Parallelogram
• Rhombus
• Heart

Even if your kids aren’t ready to dive deep into the differences between quadrilaterals, you can give them a head start in learning shape names as they compose each shape.

Each shape page includes 2 different options for building the shape.

There is a color & black and white version of each of these as well.

Extension Challenges:

When your kids are ready, you can challenge them with the open ended shape pages.

These pages include only the shape outline and require students find a way to compose the shape with pattern blocks.

Again, each page includes 2 shape outlines for students to build each shape in different ways, using different combinations of pattern blocks.
