In the game “Pharaoh’s Fractions,” students will travel through ancient Egypt as they explore key places, solve division of fractions problems & build their own pyramid in order to win the game.

There are 5 levels of fraction problems, allowing students to naturally increase in difficulty as they make their way through the game.

Each level includes division of fractions problems as well as division word problems.

Combine this with a social studies unit on ancient Egypt for even more fun & increase in student engagement!

How to Play:

Game board, game pieces and game cards are all included in the download. To play, students roll the die and make their way through Egypt as they try to build their own pyramid & finish by reaching the pyramids of Giza.

Throughout the game, students solve division of fractions problems & collect bricks to build their own pyramid.

They will occasionally pick up blessing or curse cards, along with receiving “hints” at each landmark in order to help them when the math gets more challenging.

The first student to arrive at the pyramids at Giza & complete their own pyramid wins!

Ways to Use the Fraction Game:

Use this game as a small group math center, allowing students the opportunity to practice dividing fractions and mixed numbers.

You can also use this as extra practice for students who struggle with this skill as a fun alternative to boring worksheets!

Lastly, you an collect students ‘work’ sheets after they finish the game to informally assess student understanding. Just be sure they know you plan to collect their work so they can show all their thinking!
