Solving the Acorn Story Problems:

This set of math story problem task cards includes a printable ten frame mat so your students can use actual acorns to build and solve each problem. (Of course, if you don’t have acorns, you could also use mini erasers, play dough, unifix cubes or base ten blocks.)

Once students build the problem on their ten-frame, they write their thinking and final answer on the included recording page.

This is a great opportunity for students to see math in context, build problem solving skills and build number sense within 10.

This is also a great opportunity to practice writing equations to model the story.
