Why This 8th Grade Math Review is Unique:

Although there are a lot of spiral math reviews available, this set is different.

1. It starts with 2 months (8 weeks) of 7th grade math review. At the beginning of the school year, you haven’t taught 8th grade math skills yet, so there’s nothing to review. But students have likely forgotten skills (or have gaps) from the prior year, so this allows you to be intentional about reviewing while also starting on 8th grade math topics.

2. Each week is single skill focused, progressing through all standards over the course of the year. When students are presented with a hodge-podge of math problems each day, it is difficult to give them the time and space to really review or deeply understand those skills. So instead, months 3-8 include focused 8th grade math review, where students can unpack, practice and apply a single topic over the course of the week.

3. It ends with traditional spiral review to prep for end-of-year tests. Finally, months 9-10 include a mix of standards and problem types, covering all 8th grade math standards each month, in order to help students prepare for end-of-year tests.

• Each weekly review is a single front and back page, including 3 math problems per day.
• There’s a wide variety of tasks, including visual models, word problems, and open ended challenges.
• These can be used as daily warm-ups in the classroom, with students self-checking and recording their score (space is included on each review page), or you can use it as a weekly homework assignment that students turn in.
• Use the final month of review sheets to send home as over the summerpractice and review so students can keep their skills sharp before the new school year.
